Into The Light Yoga & Creative Writing Retreat 3rd February 2018

David Lloyd Newhaven Harbour, Edinburgh, EH6 4LX

Our hosts for our special Imbolc Into The Light Yoga & Creative Writing Retreat is David Lloyd Newhaven Harbour in Edinburgh in Scotland.

Our retreat will be held in a dedicated and private space with views of the Firth of Forth. During the day participants will have access to David Lloyd Gym and Restaurant including the swimming pool, jacuzzi, changing rooms, and showers.

Additionally you are invited to reflect and relax in their Celsius Spa with its heated hydrotherapy pool, sauna and steam room. Both these facilities will be available to you until 8 p.m.

The Scottish capital of Edinburgh is steeped in history. As you ascend the cobbled Royal Mile towards the Castle, it is as if you are walking back into the past. From the dark alleys of its Medieval Old Town, to the classical sweep of its Georgian New Town, it is impossible to ignore the whispers of Edinburgh’s ancestors.

As a UNESCO City of Literature Edinburgh is the perfect location for our Into The Light Imbolc Yoga & Creative Writing Retreat. With stunning views of the Firth of Forth from our retreat space at David Lloyd in Newhaven Harbour you will be inspired by the new light of early spring as winter still holds strong on the landscape.

Picture This! 18/19 November 2017:

Bergen in Norway

Our winter non-resident writing retreat is located in the beautiful city of  Bergen in Norway. A World Heritage city, featuring the UNESCO Heritage site of Bryggen – the old Hanseatic buildings on the water’s edge – Bergen combines nature and culture. Surrounded by seven mountains, Bergen’s funicular train will take you to the summit of Fløyen, giving you panoramic views of the old city, the fjords, the mountains and beyond!

The city is rich with art galleries, museums, cultural events, great shopping and fantastic restaurants. While we do not provide accommodation on our retreat we are very happy to provide advice on booking accommodation in the city of Bergen. We would recommending taking a look at the suggestions on Visit Bergen‘s website or accommodation in the city on Airbnb.

Both days of Picture This! will be based in Litteraturhuset Bergen’s very own unique Literature House based in the heart of the old city of Bergen and focusing on the literary arts. The course will be run in Fosse- Stove, a cosy and intimate writing and working space located next to the independent book store Boksalongen.

We will be providing tea & coffee, as well as fruit during the duration of the course however lunch hour will be your own time to either explore one of Bergen’s famous coffee houses or restaurants, or else discover the culinary delights of Colonialen located in Litteraturhuset and specialising in traditional and creative dishes using seasonal produce. Their home-baked breads are the best!

On Saturday morning we will make our way to KODE 4, part of Bergen’s Art Galleries, with one of the most impressive collections of art in Scandinavia. Here we will have time to explore the galleries and select the image you would like to use for your short story.
